Our squadron is professionally known as "Jason and the Argonauts", having taken our name from the mystical Greek Legend of Jason and his men, who searched the oceans in quest of adventure and personal reward.

VFA-147 flies the F/A-18E Super Hornet. The Hornet is the Navy's premier Day/Night Strike Fighter. It has the capability to carry out both the air-to-air as well as air-to-ground missions while operating from the deck of an aircraft carrier.

VFA-147 was awarded the Battle “E”, and was named the Navy’s top F/A-18C Hornet Squadron for 2007 earning the Capt. Michael J. Estocin award
